Legend’s warning as Blues chase historic whitewash in final game of Women’s Origin series

NSW have their sights on a historic first 3-0 whitewash in the Women’s State of Origin series finale tonight.

The Blues secured their first series win with a 26-6 defeat of the Queensland Maroons in game two in Sydney earlier this month.

They enter game three with the shield in their hands but for Queensland, pride is still on the line at McDonald Jones Stadium in Newcastle.

Although his players have already accomplished a massive feat, NSW coach John Strange has urged the Blues to avoid complacency.

“We’ve spoken about that as soon as we got back into camp. It’s about us and putting a really good performance out there on the field,” Strange said.

“We want to be better every game we play.

“There’s not really any extra motivation or anything like that. We just want to keep improving and they have got that attitude.”

Strange said there were “little areas of improvement” the Blues needed to work on if they wanted to record a series whitewash.

“If we don’t do that, we’ll be disappointed irrespective of the result.”

Blues assistant coach and Origin great Ruan Sims said the Maroons should not be underestimated.

“They’re incredibly talented players, and you just never know what they’re going to throw at you,” Sims said.

“They’re a very difficult opposition.

“You’ve always got to be at your absolute best to try and beat them.”

This match is taking place a month out from the start of the NRLW season.
